The Great Refuge Dharma Hall at the United States Air Force Academy

October 29, 2007

On October 29 2007 Dai En and Jun Po will dedicate The Great Refuge Dharma Hall at the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs. A plaque will be unveiled shopwing that  Friends of Zen and the Lenz Foundation for American Buddhism provided the hall to the Cadets. The Dharma Hall is in the lower section of the Academy Chapel.

Dai En is a graduate of the first class of the United States Air Force Academy. Through his efforts a Buddhist sangha was established there over 7 years ago. After several years of negotiations the United States Air Force agreed to accept ownership of a Dharma Hall (Zendo) to be built into the Cadet Chapel. Through a generous grant from the Lenz Foundation to Friends of Zen Dai En was able to arrange for the construction of the Dharma Hall. The cadets named the space Great Refuge. The dedication service will be lead by Dai En as Roshi and Jun Po will make the donation on behalf of Friends of Zen.
