We always “choose” our reaction to feelings.
Negative habitual reactions to feelings create a
spiritual barrier. In order to be released, these
unconscious reactions must be made conscious.
For most of us, it is essential that psychological
clearing be done along with meditation. One reason
practice can be so difficult is that many of us still
hold unresolved unconscious feelings and beliefs.
Learning
We are learning to work with the wonderful, pure,
raw energy of negative feelings. We are discovering
a skillful method for transforming these feelings
into positive compassionate actions. We do not
need to react habitually, foolishly or immaturely.
We do not need to repress these wonderful, rich
energies. We are learning to locate, guide, transform
and release these memories and feelings through
more conscious and desirable actions. We are
learning that we have a choice to redirect our
destructive tendencies. We need neither fear nor
deny them. We can use them to kill or to liberate,
to be violent or loving. Through this practice we
choose more compassionate responses to the
conditions and circumstances we encounter
in our lives.
